FURTHER AFIELD

Lahav’s often works in series. Their larger series of paintings are often toured as museum exhibitions such as the 48 Jews, The Great Americans, The Foster Paintings and the Record Painting. However over their long career Lahav has created many smaller bodies of works that range from topics of pop culture to the psychology of the unconscious and the roots of creativity.

During their undergraduate studies at Wesleyan University Jac Lahav explored the works of Carl Jung and André Breton, setting up a lifelong fascination with the strange otherworld nature of the unconscious mind. Lahav’s thesis studies centered around automatic drawing: in which an artist suppresses conscious control over the creation process, allowing the unconscious mind to take control.

The projects below are an archive exploring some of the more ecentric / unconscious / intuitive side of Lahav’s work.
